All the Server specific data is gathered on this page, this section will be constantly updated as more data becomes available.
The server offers all the original PSOBB quests enabled in the Official Japanese Server at the time of their closure, as the Official US PSOBB servers were sunset earlier than their Japanese counterparts some of the later quests were never localized to english by Sega of America

While the best efforts are always being made to ensure a stable operation of the game, theres always several other small questions that I get asked constantly regarding the game, the server, and so on... so to answer everybody the most common ones will be updated in this section.
You will need the original Japanese PSO BB client, a clean copy of it alongside the patch to connect to the server can be found in the files area, refer to the 'readme.txt' found there for a more detailed explanation of the whole setup progress.
The server implements a very basic account creation system, all you need to do is to type any username/password combination with a maximum length of 8 characters or less at the PSO BB title screen and connect, your account will be created instantly!, just be aware to never forget your username or password so you can always recover and log back with your account as otherwise there wont be any way to recover your account, also please use a unique password for this website for your safety.
Since we use the Official Japanese PSOBB client in Kiyomizu, this installer made by SEGA was optimized for computers running Japanese versions of Windows with Unicode support enabled by default which is left disabled for the english version of Windows, it doesnt affect the installation so just keep pressing NEXT until the setup is completed.
In the game options menu you can change a variety of graphic and sound settings theres a translation of it in the files area
In newer versions of Windows with high DPI monitors the options might fail to fetch the list of resolution sometimes, so the best course of action here is to restart the computer and open the menu again afterwards, then select the highest resolution you can afford.
Make sure you are using the English patch from the files area and make sure you are using English as your default text input, if you suddenly found yourself unable to write in game press the F8 key to switch between direct input or space activation input.
Since we are using the official japanese client for Kiyomizu, the patch only patches the languages settings in-game, so the options and launcher are kept untouched in their original japanese version, refer to the translation in the files area for more details about them.
In addition to the default keyboard controls you can also use a Gamepad with PSO BB, keep in mind it's an old game so it works better with DINPUT devices such as the Sony's Dualshock controllers rather than XINPUT devices such as Xbox 360/One/Series controllers. Plug the controller before running the game then in the F12 menu go to Options and Gamepad Settings, then select Custom and adjust the bindings to your liking.
Support for SteamDeck/Linux is still being worked on by the Patch developer, it will be announced here in the site at a later date.
To avoid crashes or unwanted behavior as this is a very old game it is recommended to run it always in Windowed Mode, and make sure you have all your graphic and system drivers updated to their latest versions, for laptops also make sure you are using high performance profiles.
This means that you found a bug in the communication between the client and the server, best course of action is to open a ticket in the newserv issue tracker and make sure to include detailed steps on how to recreate the error, the more times you can consistently recreate it the better, you can also leave me a message about it in the guestbook and I will do my best to recreate and report it as well.
The very latest version of Windows Security for Windows 10 and 11 is starting to delete the PsoBB.exe and PsoBB.pat by default regardless if its a hacked executable or an official one, to verify this you will notice that both files will be missing suddenly from your 'PHANTASY STAR ONLINE Blue Burst' installation folder, to remedy this, all you have to do is reinstall the game and add the game folder to your list of exclusions following these steps:
After doing this you should be good to go and the antivirus wont delete the game executables anymore.
Yes you can, but it's your responsability on how to set them up and troubleshoot in case something goes wrong.
Users using hacks will be permanently banned from the server.
In addition to the rules mentioned above regarding mods and hacking, there's no really any other rule to follow in Kiyomizu, this server is prepared to receive players from different cultures so standards on whats right and wrong varies a lot, ultimately you are responsible for whatever happens to you on this server. Common sense, be polite to eachother and if possible try to reach a consensus.
If you ever find a problematic player heres a few tips:
Kiyomizu operates with the backend of newserv so any proper bug you find make sure to report them to the main project issue tracker.
Unfortunately PSO BB player data is tied up to the server you are currently playing so theres no way to import/export the data for now, solutions are being worked on.
I'm very glad you liked the server, but donations are not acepted here, if anything, the best donation you can offer is to spread the word about it, as I will do my best to continue keeping the server up and running as usual.
